According to researchers, drizzling a little extra virgin olive oil on your salad and your vegetables, not only can be a gastronomical pleasure, it also can be protective against toxins that cause oxidative stress that damage your liver.
Olive oil has been used since ancient times as an anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-bacterial. Extra virgin olive oil is also used for detoxification of the colon and the liver.
Extra virgin olive oil has been proven scientifically that protects, builds and maintains health. It protects the liver from oxidative stress (the physiological stress that is caused by free radical damage and it is linked to aging and also health problems.
In the University of Monastir in Tunisia, Dr. Mohamed Hammami and in the King Saudi University in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and a team of researchers experimented on lab rats. They separated them into groups exposed them to the toxic herbicide 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid that causes oxidative stress.
The groups of the animals received their regular diet, or a diet supplemented with olive oil or hydrophilic extract or the lipophilic extract. Although the rats in every group were given the toxic herbicide, the rats that their diet was enhanced with extra virgin olive oil or the olive oil extracts, they had a significant decrease on liver damage.
Dr. Hammami, the author of the study said that the hydrophilic extract is very effective in controlling toxins and oxidative stress. It is an antioxidant with protective effects on the liver.
Extra virgin olive oil and its extracts has tremendous health benefits, including the elimination of some cancers, the significant reduction of heart disease and the protection of the liver.
To detoxify your liver, wash an organic lemon, place it in a blender with a cup of water and blend for a minute. Strain the mix and discard the pulp. Put the juice back in the blender, add a clove of garlic and two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Blend for twenty to twenty-five seconds and drink the mix right away. Wait for an hour and then you can have breakfast.
Repeat this for seven days. On the second day forward, replace the whole lemon with one peeled lemon, one peeled grapefruit and one peeled orange.
